Hello! I'm a newbie who currently lives in Southern Maine, originally from Northern Maine. (The two halves of the state are very different, so that's why I needed to specify, lol)
I'm an absolute beginner in regards to gardening, but just moved to a big old house with a huge yard, and I can't wait to start a garden! But first... I need to clean up the yard... which is what led me to you :) There are some plants on the property which I'm not familiar with so I'll be taking pics and posting those later to get some advice on how to deal with them.
I'm excited to have found a forum that seems so friendly, welcoming and helpful!!

Hi Summer and welcome from SE Texas! For those of us who aren't familiar with Maine, can you explain the differences?
And congrats on your move. Starting a garden from "scratch" is so much fun! I can't wait to see what all you do. And you're right, this place is so friendly and helpful... I'd be lost without everyone's help and advice.

Hi Summer and welcome! Congratulations on the new place. it's always interesting to see what the other owners planted before you moved in. Post your pics and we will all do our best to help.

Hi Summer, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Oh, clean slate, new garden....we require photos of the before, watching a new garden take shape is so exciting.
The Plant ID forum awaits your photos ;)

I have a friend who lives in Kennebunkport, she doesn't garden much so I am not familiar with the north/south differences either.
