Yesterday was so nice, I spent a good portion of it out back getting my bloom house ready for the coming season. Watered seedlings, packed up some things to give away and then looking around the yard felt even further behind than I had before going out there. Today I got more seeds planted then started on some cleaning up. And underneath the remains of the autumn leaves I found .... The Sedum, Autumn Joy plants were beginning to put out new growth. This one I can't for the life of me remember it's name...anyone? See the tiny green and pink leaves? The Sweet Williams stayed green all winter and has started blooming. It was perfectly still out there until I pushed the button then a breeze made the flowers sway and come out fuzzy. The pot of Snowflakes are almost past their prime but this is the first day in weeks that we haven't had constant high wind that kept me from taking their picture. There are several Hyacinths in bloom around the edge of the pot that also holds the Spiderwort, it stayed green all winter also. My first bed....lower front is Lemon Balm that stayed green all winter, three dwarf Hollyhocks that also stayed green all winter, Blackeyed Susan's are to the right of the Lemon Balm and stays green year round too, the daylilies are coming back and I have planted several more there, the Siberian Iris leaves have been up and green since October, the two pots at the back hold red and black Tulips that haven't bloomed yet. You can barely see one of the pots I use for a water garden, it has Water Iris and the other two have Water Lilies. So far of the 4-5 dozen Daffodil bulbs I planted last year and last fall, their is only one in bloom and one on the way.
Gosh Toni you have so much going on in your garden at the moment. The weather here seems to have subdued the plants in my garden somewhat but, hopefully, they will soon be putting out new growth very soon.
I love your plants, Toni! The second one looks like a sedum of some kind too, but I'm not sure. Your snowflakes and mine are not too different in blooming, that's fun to see. I'm hungry for crocus and daffodils now.
Yeah, I agree with Droopy. I think your second one is one of the prostrate varieties of Sedum...maybe "Dragon's Blood"? It's great to see all that new life popping up. I can almost smell the Hyacinths!
Gosh Toni...there is tons going-on in your garden now! All that colour. It all looks so good, doesn't it? I can see that iot is going to look very nice come summer. It was a great idea to show what's going on there at the moment, and it just plain makes me feel good. Thank you.

Thanks for the ID, Droopy and Kasey, I was thinking it might be a sedum too. I bought it at the end of last season, it wasn't doing too well then so I potted it and have been waiting to see what happens. The Heuchera Coral Bells-Caramel is another I bought at the end of the season that has a couple of tiny leaves showing up too. There are several perennials that stayed green all year round even tho we had 26 nights of 32 degrees or below. Even my Geranium kept a couple of green leaves all winter and now is putting out a lot of new growth.
The single daffodil shot did it for me Toni, thanks for posting your photos. BTW I like your sundial!
Nice Toni! I can't wait to see more pictures. I've been nursing along my seedlings and they are coming along fine. The only blooms I have at the moment are on my pink gaura.
I have that second one too, but I don't know the name. Hyacinths! And a daffodil! You're way ahead of me!
