There was a gentleman selling Iris bulbs, fresh from his garden and in so much better condition than anything I have gotten from garden centers or online sellers.

I found links to photos of
4 of them so you can see what I am really excited about having in bloom next Spring.

    2 - Bombay Eyes

    1 - Elmer's Buttermint...can't find a photo online but it is a pretty yellow/orange with a touch of lavender.

and since I spent $22 on those, he gave me the Mystic Lover for free...

He is near Waco, Texas and not sure he wants to get into the mail order business but he said I could give out his name and number if anyone was interested in visiting his farm.

Eileen, I did think of you when I saw his photo of Bombay Eye. I have never had a white Iris before and mixed in with the darker ones should be a standout.

Barb, the tall bearded Iris are really carefree and are hardy to zone 3-4 and most of them have a wonderful fragrance that fills the yard. You really need to try one.

Netty, I am really hoping that they are as gorgeous in my garden as in those photos.

Jerry, they will be planted in front of a water fountain along with some dark purple ones and as much as I love fall and winter I am now really anxious for spring.

Cheryl, I hope to make them happy. Gotta get some bulb food to make sure.

CM, I was amazed at the price. They were all between $2-$5 and the freebie was a large $4 one. I was going to get more as we drove the route coming home on Sunday but he wasn't there. I do have his number if I want more though. ;)

Deanna, I was hoping there would be at least one plant seller along the route. This guy was kind of tucked in the back of an area in a vacant lot between buildings in Maypearl, almost missed him...so he and the bulbs were a great find.

Kiasmum, the most exciting thing about Spring for me is the return of all my tall bearded Iris, I call them 'my ladies'. Those are all in the back garden and now I will have some of 'my ladies' in the front garden as well.

Wow, I really like the Dark Drama and the Mystic Lover. I can't wait to see the pics of them blooming in your garden.
