    hello from buffalo...i know where you're coming from, we have very similar soil here as well....all i can say is amend, amend, amend.....lol, this is a wonderful place for all kinds of ideas, and answers, even for ones you didn't know you had!!!! :-?

    A hearty welcome from another Texas gardener! Our soil is "black prairie gumbo" which presents challenges of its own.
    There are lots of great gardeners here with lots of good advice, and very willing to help you.
