The oystercatchers were out in force today. The juveniles were on view, they have the dirty looking beaks.

Aren't they nice looking with the red beaks. I've never heard of an oystercatcher either. Thanks, Kildale.

Kildale do your Oystercatchers migrate? Our black and white ones seem to be residents around here.

They're pretty birds. We've got the black-and-white Haematopus ostralegus here in summer, but they migrate. I love to hear their de-biit-de-biit-call in spring, because then I know it's spring. :D
