    Where I first saw these beautiful flowers in acres and acres across the landscape glowing in all colors in a collidescope of light capturing my imagination and attention forever.

    Thanks @Pacnorwest for telling about this.

    Many years ago, we toured Swan Island Dahlias in bloom, and of course bought some tubers. At the time, I didn't know that they often don't survive our winters, and they eventually died off.

    Now I'm happy with the small, seed-grown varieties. They are also very colorful and easy to grow, and don't need as much care.

    I thought deer would eat them. They haven't, but slugs and rabbits eat the small plants.
