This is what we woke up to this morning...which doesn't surprise me since I got a raging migraine last night. ( photo / image / picture from carolyn keiper's Garden ) This isn't in focus on the landscape, it is the snow falling that I was trying to get a picture of, but I find that really hard to do with this camera. That is a lot more snow than we had here in Texas. But, it's pretty cold here this morning, too. Warming up to 60's though. Enjoy your snow. dooley
We are getting more tomorrow, too. This morning there was about 3" down and drift of up to 2' in places. I think today is about the warmest for the time being and it was about 19 when I got up. Monday night is fore casted to be -11. thats cold! Dooley, I can't say I enjoy it in any way shape or form. I don't ski, sled, skate etc. I like it warmer than this. Although I can say there is no mud, either. I hate mud worse than I hate the bitter cold.
Snow does make for lovely photographs but I can see why you don't want any more. Take care whilst out and about.
My men just got back from plowing snow and they said there was 6" down where the snow wasn't blowing. There is at least 6" on the deck, too.
We got more snow last night too, and strong winds. The driveway was drifted in as high as the dog in a few places! DH had to plow us out so we could get to Skating class this morning. I'm SO sick of winter already!
At least the snow's clean, and it helps brighten up the landscape during the short winter days. We're up to nearly eight hours of daylight now, and with a little bit of snow on the ground the dark hours don't feel that loooooooong.
Ewwwww Droopy, up to 8... did you say UP to EIGHT hours of daylight?. Remind me to never complain about our short days here.....ever again. We have about 10 hours right now. You have my deepest sympathy. You are right, though it does brighten up the night. Around here you have to watch for the deer at nighttime and in the dark with brush along side the country roads the drive can be dangerous.
I agree. Snow is so beautiful and great to take pictures of. The cold is getting tiring at this time. At least I have heat now and water but we are all wet yet. We will be on our way on Tuesday to dryness. My poor basement. :'(
I'm sick of this weather. You can't do anything, you can't go anywhere. Where I live, (NW Ohio), they've had a level 2 alert, so you have to stay off the roads., Last week I couldn't even go outside due to the freeze warnings. It's like being in jail.
Barb, You are right, we are getting tired of the bitter cold. It hasn't snowed enough for any plowing this past several weeks (and it is too cold to go out and work in the construction industry) and we are getting a little testy here since we are all pretty much housebound. Atwood Terrace, just like us you just have to wait it out. It will eventually go away. I am pretty sure we haven't missed a spring yet, but anything is possible with global warming. EDITED..... I am coming back here 2 hours later... after measuring the snow on the deck...we have 9 inches. That is a long shot from the 1-3 inch forecast.
We're further north than Anchorage Alaska, so our winter days are very short. Fortunately we're way south of the Polar circle. North of it there's only night for a period of time. They get the midnight sun during the summer though, which kind of weighs up I guess. The worst winter is when we have no snow but grey skies. It just doesn't get light at all.
Yah! Ummm, you are waaay up there. Is your weather better than Ankorage's? At least you don't have wolves and bears and porcupines, right?
