I started with an 8 ft x 8 ft winter vegetable bed. Then we made a 4 ft x 16 ft one and yesterday I made a triangular bed with 8 ft sides and today I made a 4 ft x 8 ft one.
Each takes two or three hours of digging because the ground is full of roots, some big ones. I still want to make a couple more. It's good living in the country because no one is going to complain that they are in the front yard. Chance has to have the backyard to run around and there is already the tomato patch back there.

dr planted onions in the long bed yesterday and I planted a row of beets. Still room so tomorrow I shall plant something else.

Do you see that we have built a house with the square bed and the triangle bed?

Looking good Dooley. It also looks like lots of work. Hope you enjoyed yourself while getting it done, Those chairs look to be in a perfect spot to sit and look at the accomplishment of the garden.

Things are coming along well. I love the looks of your beds. Can't wait to se the garden up and growing.

I remember seeing photos of brush land. This can't be the same area???

It's the same brush land. They bulldozed the brush and trees and left the little stumps and roots. That's why it takes me so long to dig out a small bed. Roots, roots and more roots. The backyard wasn't so bad but still...
I worked in the tomato patch today. Last year we just put down black plastic and cut holes in it for the tomatoes. This year I have 24 tomatoes and only 18 holes so I'll cut a line of holes down the middle. I may have to make some tomato cages to keep them in line.
Off to plant petunias at the end of the house and maybe in a couple of big pots.

That really looks nice. I want to make some raised beds this year. Where did you get your wood for your borders?

Those are landscape timbers. They come from Home Depot or Lowe's. We go to both places. They are cheaper in summer or fall. They were more than we wanted to pay but we needed them this week.
