Went for a walk in the yard this morning and took a few pics.

This is the stone retaining wall that we had put in 2 years ago.

The Stella d Oro's are almost all out now.

    The racoon proof Guara protector.

The bottom hole is the woodpecker nest. I stood out there for about 15 minutes hoping mama would come and feed her babies, but the mosquitos were eating me alive so I gave up.

The Husker Red in bloom. The leaves on this plant are a reddish purple.

Your retainer wall is very elegant! :D I'm so glad you managed to protect your Guara, even though it doesn't look quite as elegant as the wall, but needs must, eh?

Your blooms are lovely, especially the last one. *off to Google*

Your retaining wall looks better every time I see it and the planting is all coming along nicely. Let's hope those pesky racoons stay away from your Guara now you have the crate to protect it. What a pity the woodpeckers didn't feed their young while you were outside. I take it that the squirrel hasn't attempted to get to the babies again or has it?

Very nice-looking retaining wall and little bed at it's foot.
It's a pity that you have to take steps to protect your Gaura. Tch! Bad coons!
Here's wishing you success with it now.

Netty, that is black dyed hardwood mulch. I buy it bulk from a local nursery. It's a lot cheaper that way. I paid $38. US per yard. That garage is 36 ft by 30 ft. Holds 3 cars a work shop and all kinds of collected junk!
