Well Im new to GardenStew but not new to gardening. "FountainMan" is a nickname a beloved teacher/friend gave me when I was in elementary school. I have grown up with a passion for fountains. But then again what surrounds the waterscape, the landscape, plants, trees? One thing led to another, I became a garden enthusiest. As for me right now, my dad and I are starting phase 2 of 3 for backyard landscaping. Phase 1 started 6 years ago as just an Oak tree in a corner of our yard. Then came the pond, shortly after that the rest of the landscape developed outwards from that and well planted. In high school, I was part of a horticulture class. Some of the plants we grew are still in the garden. Some we lost. Along with gardening, I'm also a weather watcher for both the meteorology and growing aspects of it. A weather station is setup to provide data on several important items to plants. But also to weather watching in general. I love landscaping, but I love it even more when water is incorperated into it through a water feature whether a waterfall, pond, stream, or fountain always adds that other dimention to the landscape.

Hello there FountainMan. Welcome to GardenStew from bonnie Scotland. I hope you have some photographs of your garden as we love to see what others do with their outdoor space. I, too, love water features and have a faitly large pond that has been created just for wildlife. I look forward to getting to know you. :-D

Welcome from Texas! We have a one-acre pond (stock tank is the local term) with turtles, fish, snakes, and a variety of birds. Watching the activity there is one of our main sources of entertainment.

Hi FountainMan, I share the same thought as you, water element always add the other dimension to the landscape. Welcome from a distant land.
