I got a start of this plant from one of my aunts about 3 years ago. She called it a "dead bird plant". I guess she never saw it bloom and just saw the spent flower hanging there the next morning. Cyreus ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I've been watching it finally get ready to bloom. And not just one... but five buds. Two fell off. I guess it was self thinning? bottom bud ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) It was a nice evening, not too too hot. And there wasn't a darn thing on TV worth watching. So I got out the mosquito spray, camp lantern, flashlight. Made a big cold adult beverage and grabbed a chair.. and made sure the batteries were charged in the camera. getting ready to watch the show ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) It was getting close. almost open ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) That's when I realized the flower was going to be completely different from my other Cyreus that bloomed recently. Hey Mrs. G. I was just thinking the other day that we haven't seen you around lately. I have no clue how often it blooms... this was it's first time. The "other" one bloomed for it's first time about a month ago and it should be blooming in a week or two.
