At least you are safe! Post when and what you can, but let us know how you, Molly, and the cats are doing!

Just what you don't need Philip. :( I hope you get reconnected soon and that this dreadful weather improves for us both. I presume you still have electricity so can be warm, fed and have lights? I know many people have been really badly affected which must be dreadful especially at this time of year.
I opened the greenhouse this morning to check on my plants and a gust blew a hole in one of the glass panes. Never seen anything like that happen before. I've patched it up as best as I can so, fingers crossed, it holds.

I hate when mine is down, but usually find all kinds of other things to do, like work, and working on other things I have neglected while playing on my computer. When the electric is down, we even use candles and kerosene lamps so we can see what we are doing.

I hope the winds cease soon and your internet is restored. Thankfully you have your phone ... I go crazy when technology is down!

    Hi Folks,
at last my Internet is back,..it just came back at 0400 this morning,..its now 0430 its calm at last,.. those high winds were surely scary,..Telegraph Poles were blown down plus lots of trees,..as most houses here are build with cement blocks it was just the slates that blew off however mine are fine.

I really feel for those whose electricity is off since before Christmas Day,..and still off,..however work is in progress but its slow and careful with electric cables underwater.

Eileen felt the full force of this wind like i did and i was delighted to see all was well with her,..apart from the greenhouse pane blown in.

I never really appreciate my mobile phone until of late,..its on a different internet provider so i could check into Emails,..YouTube and the Stew,..in fact do everything my computer will do,..alas its the size of the screen and the print,..even though the facility to enlarge is there its still small and hitting keys is slow and taken with care,..still its contact with the outside world.

All the 8 resident cats came home and remained indoors over the Christmas,..was this because of the 100 mph wind and rain?,.. ,..or the aroma of Christmas Turkey,..methinks the latter,.. :D .

Phillip, glad to hear that your internet has returned to normal. I'm quite sure the cats stayed put to keep you company and to make sure you were O.K. It had nothing to do with delicious smelling turkey. Turkey? Hmmmm… there is some leftover turkey in the refrigerator, I think I'm hungry. :) Sandwiches anyone?

Hi Jerry,..i was amazed to see all the pets remain indoors and it was fun to see them all stretched out here and there,..though there be sly ones,.. cute ones,..looking for affection ones,..and just pure mischief types,..then the grumpy ones,..they were great company,..not leaving out Molly who stuck beside me like glue.

No turkey left for me,..it was devoured in just 5 days,..these pets were wired to the fridge bulb,..as soon as it lit it was a stampede to the kitchen,.. :D

Happy to hear you have power back. That sounds like an awful storm you all went through. Good thing you have all that new insulation and doors and windows.
Hope Eileen came through this without too many problems also.

Thanks Cheryl,..very few people ventured outdoors and wisely so,..flying slates were my worst fear when walking Molly so i kept well to the side of houses,..i turned back home as the sound alone of the wind was like a low flying jet plane,..Molly didn't like that sound,.. ,..i think Eileen fared out quite well like myself,..we were very fortunate.

With all the new insulation i was very snug,.. :D

Thank goodness you've got your internet connection back Philip. You don't know how much you rely on it do you until it's gone?
I'm so glad we got our roof replaced when we did as there was no damage to the slates at all. However not everyone in the village was quite so lucky and I can foresee some large repair bills in the near future. The winds have died back a bit now but we still have the heavy rains. I would love to see that big, yellow ball in the sky and feel its warmth - if only for a day here and there.
