Hi rientile and welcome to GardenStew. Do you mean the Windows system sounds for example the tunes that play when you start up and shut down Windows?

    Go to:

Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices

Click on the 'Sounds' tab on the top and try out a few of the system sounds by selecting them in the list below and then clicking the Play button. What do you observe?

Is the tab greyed out or just the contents of what appears when you click on the tab?

    Go to:

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> 'Hardware' tab -> Device Manager

Are there any items in the list with yellow question marks beside them?
