Groan...just a little winge as it is snowing in Essex again. I am still waiting for a parcel from Bonnie Scotland to arrive - a set of small bagpipes for my step daughter for Christmas, and I don't think they are going to get here in time. :(

Oh I do hope your step daughters gift arrives in time EJ. I ordered a book for Ian on the 19th of November and it only arrived today!! I know it's because of the severe weather conditions but it doesn't help the feeling of disappointment when you've ordered something well in advance of Christmas and it doesn't get delivered does it?

It's been snowing heavily here again today too and now we've got freezing temperatures. I hope everyone takes care as there is so much black ice around making the roads extremely dangerous.

Over here, we don't have any snow, we have heard how bad it is in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

What a shame, EJ...sadly we are getting more snow here as well. It does not bode well when the roads are wet and runny fromb high temps...and then the weather suddenly gets colder and it starts snowing on top of that!

Its got me saying, "Oh no, not a gain"! here too. :(
I hope that you guys can cope alright. it is such a shame that the prezzie hasn't arrived yet...but don't give up just yet---christmas is saturday a week.

Hope your parcel arrives soon Emma. I thought we were going to get away with it as we have only had a couple of cm of snow.....until today when it has been snowing nearly all day and we now have about 6/7inches

We saw the weather news of all your snow in the UK on one of the TV networks last night.
Looks like it's causing trouble, as winter storms are known to do!
Hope you all have safe travels, if you need to travel.Otherwise, you can enjoy a white Christmas!
Is it uncommon to have this wintery weather there?
We are used to it here, so it comes as no surprise. Last year at this time we had at least a foot of the white stuff,it kept coming all winter, and we didn't see the ground until around March...

The country appears to have ground to a halt with most flights cancelled, trains not running, and roads clogged up and at a standstill. It isn't uncommon for us to have wintery weather in Scotland and on the hills, but this amount of snow is a tad unusual...at least in my lifetime. As a country, we really aren't prepared for it, so roads are untreated, people are ill prepared, and of course, this close to Christmas, people are still desperately trying to get to the shops. Mum is supposed to be coming to ours on Wednesday for the holidays, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the roads are better by then. Boxing Day is at the inlaws with family travelling down from all over, and at the moment, they aren't very keen so we might be doing Boxing day in January!

EJ, I sure hope you're Christmas and Boxing Day plans aren't spoiled too much by your weather! It isn't very much fun to try to drive in those conditions.
We actually missed our family Christmas day last year, as we were in the midst of a huge blizzard. We didn't get to do one part of our celebrating until mid January!
Again, wishing you a safe holiday...

Oh, bummer! :( I'm so sorry for you EJ. How much snow have you got now? I'd gladly lend you some of our studded car tires, snow plows, the snowblower and such, but I'm afraid your snow would be gone by the time I got there.

The amount varies from place to place. It seems we got of lightly with just a few inches. The airports seem to have had much more. The night time temps are down to -12 and lower which is freezing the animals water bottles and testing the heating to it's limits. The children and I popped out today to post some cards, and it is powdery, gritty snow here in our village, no good for snowballs. It is picture postcard lovely, if only people weren't all worrying about Christmas.

Those temps will make the snow light, and then it's easy to clear away but no fun unless you like to ski. We also had snow today, at -6°. It rarely snows here when the temps are so low.

Whatever happened to that global warming everybody were so worried about a few years back?

We have more snow on top of old snow but not as bad as it could be.
