Today I thought I had taken 30 odd pictures of a long-billed Dowitcher, which I had photos of. I posted it in BirderBC as a ID to confirm it. It turned out to be a new one for me, a Marbled Godwit, never seen one of them before.
I didn't even know that such a bird existed!! I love it when you post photographs of birds I've never seen or heard of before. We get Black tailed Godwit/Whimbrel and Bar-Tailed Godwits here but neither breed in this country. They are mostly found in the north of Scotland during the winter months.
There have been a lot of photographers down there since I sent a picture to some top birders here. There are two down there now and it has been 4 days, and a first for the area.
One I have not seen even in pictures...thanks for sharing your new bird, I love the markings on it...
