The hummers stay here the year round and it amazes me that they survive. Hrere is a picture of a pair of Anna's hummingbirds taken today, yes, we have snow.

These birds are so tiny that it amazes me too that they can survive in such harsh conditions. I'm glad to see that they're making good use of the feeders you've put out for them.

Wow, never realized that they would spend the winter in a snowy area.

I'm with Toni... I thought they all migrated to warmer climates.
    Cool photo!

I have had them staying for about five years. They were further north in the city but have expanded their range. One year in Oct. I took in the feeders as the Rufous had all left, the next day there was a hummer hovering around where the feeder used to be. I made more sugar water and put the feeders out again and the hummer was back and I've kept them out sice.

We have them overwintering down here in the south Puget Sound also. It broke my heart to see one hovering at the window the year I overwintered my impatients at school. I read up on it and they eat insects and an pollen from hazelnuts, and alder catkins. How lucky they are to get nectar from you. So glad that you are feeding them. Not even the camelias are blooming this year at this time.
