It isn't the lack of cold temps or having felt the last freeze of the season or the end of Winter that mean Spring to me. It is when my Iris Lady's bloom, the purple Bearded Iris whose fragrance takes me right back to summer days when I was 10 and the grape flavored popsicles and snowcones that I loved. This year they really like their new bed, each of the first four to reach blooming age have three buds on their stems and there are about 6 more a couple of weeks behind them in maturity. Last years blooms were very disappointing but they will be making up for it this year. I LOVE these blooms ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) #2 in my LOVE fest this day ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
Oooh, they're such beauties too! Enjoy them while they're there. Do you intend to sleep outside tonight?
Hadn't thought about sleeping out with them. We already have mosquitos so I guess I had better not...darn
Absolutely gorgeous. I love beardies and am waiting patienty (well as patiently as I can ) for mine to bloom. I hope they're just as lovely as yours are Toni when they show themselves.
I am a big Iris fan too -- those are lovely and thank you for sharing your childhood memory too... love hearing the connections people have to their gardens. Grape popsickles... purple iris! Sweet!
Very nice and bold color! Grape snowcones,,mmmm. The best part of those was the all day purple lipstick. Eat some now Toni and you can match your beautiful iris's while you garden.
