My wife received some flowers from a friend along with a get well card after a recent hospital stay. The flowers lasted quite awhile.

In the bouquet I noticed some remnants of former flowers. I suppose even past their prime they had some esthetic value for the florist.

I let the pods dry out before I put them to the knife

I cut open a dried pod and a dust cloud of seeds spilled out but what kind of seeds are a mystery. As my garden is 99.44% shade, I do not recognize the pod. Hence it must be a sunny flower and falls into my unknown category.

Each dissected seed pod had a zillion seeds but what kind of seeds?

If you still have the envelope the card came in it probably has the name of the florist, I'd call them. ;)

Snapdragons are out as they have holes in the pods that make them look like little skeletons. I suppose I could take a picture to a local florist or garden center.
I am at the local garden center more often....hmmm, I will try them.

    The hunt continues :)

P.S. The seeds have been entered in the log book as Summer Experiment #001-2013

Aha, I've always cut mine off when they're still green. I googled to see what you mean, fascinating! The pics also reminded me that the tiny leaves at the base of snapdragon pods kind of hug the pod instead of pointing down, away. Thanks!
