I normally wouldn't order from them because of their high prices, but free shipping makes up for it if you need something only they sell....such as 4th of july tomatoes.
We jut received our Gurney's seed and plant catalog, with 50% off orders until a certain date. Sounded good until you looked at the prices--double what they usually are! I hate it when a seed company thinks gardeners are gullible. I don't order from Burpee's, but I did pass the code and information along to a fellow gardener who does. Thanks, Carolyn!
I generally don't orderfrom them either. I can't believe how expensive they are. I did need the 4th of july tomatoes, though and I haven't been able to get them off of a seed display. I think they are phasing out the desirable seed packets and filling the racks with junk seeds. The last packet of the variety I was able to buy off the rack was 2010 and they were 2.95...out of the catalog they were 5.95....cheaper than driving for them, but still waaaay too much money for a packet of seeds. I wish they were developing a better reputation, but they are not and it is disappointing to see and hear of so many unhappy customers.
