There are a few things still blooming out back.

There are two of these gold ones in bloom and a yellow but the sun is too bright for a clear picture of it.

One more small Canna, there are at least three more getting ready to bloom too. Webworms were really bad in north Texas this year, they started in May and had all summer to feast on the leaves of every plant they could find, the Canna leaves were no exception.

The last three Blackeyed Susans and they are looking very scragly. This is one of those plants that moves itself, much like my Blaze rose a few years ago. This one was originally planted about 4 feet to the right of where it is now.

The Freedom Hedge Roses have really suffered this year. Way too much rain in spring and early summer and then hot/humid and dry meant very few roses and leaves. I'll be cutting them back after next week.

I decided to make this path using roofing shingles, they last a really long time and there is not much chance for weeds/grass to grow up thru them. Besides I am tired of Rambo constantly bringing mulch pieces back inside. We bought two packages, thought they were all brown but ended up with one black package, oh well, I don't feel like buying more.

Pretty blooms Toni. I really like those Orange Cosmos but was unable to find them in any green house this spring. I now have seeds for next year so I'm going to plant my own.
Shingles...what a clever idea! I have a pile here and should have used them on my veggie garden pathways! Next year I will!!

Lovely flowers Toni. I loved the orange, it has such a vibrant colour. I'm glad you thought of the shingles for your walk. It looks very nice.

Good job on the shingle path Toni, had you thought about interleaving the black and brown?

Also I just realised there has been a distinct lack of rose photos this year so your addition is very welcome.

The orange Cosmos is my favorite too. I hoped the pictures would cheer up those who are already in winter.

Randy had the packages of shingles stacked with what turned out to be the brown on top. I didn't realize that the second package was black until after all the brown ones were down  I still have to continue the path curving to the left on the far end, so I think from where I stopped yesterday will be more brown with a section of black at the end. Then I can say I did the colors that way on purpose. ;)
