Had great success with my request for the official tress of Canada and the USA. Have 57 images in now out of 62, just 5 missing. Have a look at the page if you have a few minutes to spare. Just click State Trees. We have credited the images that we have not taken. If you have one of the missing ones please let me know.
I hope you'll soon be able to find the last five photographs you need to complete the State trees. We have a few of the same types growing wild over here that are in your photographs but not very many. There are a some here that a similar to yours though. For instance the Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera) has bark very like our Silver birch (Betula pendula.) Nowadays it's posible to see many introduced species naturlising themselves in Scotland. However they can, in some instances, spread diseases and pests that can devestate our native trees. I will be able to refer to your comprehensive list of trees now if I ever need to ID a species found in the USA or Canada.
Eileen, we are also working on all the trees that we can find in another series, like we have the birds. We call it 'Walking in the Wild'. We have around 50 ready to add the text to. You shoulld have a look at those we have finished, not many yet but we are working on them. This is the page Walking in the Wild. Then just click one of the trees for more images of that tree. We have lots of birds done like this also.
OO I love it!! That's a great way to categorize trees as it makes it so simple to use. I'm so glad you joined GardenStew as I'm learning so much from you.
We are working on birds also. We have a lot of those finished. Then we have 40 odd shrubs to add, but they take up a lot of time researching them etc. so it is a long job. This is where the birds are. Walking in the Wild, the birds.
Kildale, you have done it again. I really love this one. This site just makes me happy. I think the state and province trees are a great idea. You wouldn't have one for state and province flowers too?
You should try to get a book published with all those wonderfully catagorized photographs. I'm sure it would be a real boon to everyone that's interested in nature.
What Eileen said. You're so good with your camera, and you don't use lots of words either. It would be a nice book to give as a present.
Hey Kildale, Thanks for sharing this! I really like learning which state has which tree. Getting images of the state birds would be real cool too!
Hey the state and province flowers and birds are excellent as well. I really like these sites. Good work! I would also like to see the insect and butterfly ones too.
We still need a few insects to complete the Insect page but we do have most of them.State Insects None of the Canadian Provinces etc have an insect. I believe Quebec was going to choose one. Didn't find out if they did.
Eileen. I did work on a book on the coastal wildflowers. Three of us did a book each for Hancock Publishers. I had 124 pictures in the Coastal book and a few in the other two books.I got my name on the cover. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
