While cleaning out my seed cupboard the other day, I discovered a few things I forgot I'd bought. I found 2 roots of "Beverly Sills" Iris Germanica and a bag of 20 Chionodoxa "gigantea". When I showed my husband he informed me that there was a bag of "something green" in the garage too! Out there I found a (frozen) bag of Iris that a friend had brought over late fall. My question is...what do I do with them now? Should I pot them up now or wait until spring? Do you think they will survive? Should I leave the frozen ones frozen until I can plant them in early spring? Help! I really messed up this time!

Oh, my, what a situation. I really don't know what the best thing to do is, but I'd probably panic and plant everything in containers, and then leave them somewhere frost free but cold for the rest of the winter.

That's what I was thinking Droopy. Do you know how I would force the Chionodoxa bulbs?

No idea, Netty. Why don't you just pot them and put them inside and see what happens? They're hardy, little bulbs.

    Thanks Droopy and Glenda.
I'm usually very good at getting things planted as soon as I get them. I don't know where my head was!

Maybe you should bring the Iris inside to thaw and dry out some before planting. Planting them frozen might encourage them to turn to mush.

The Beverly Sills Iris and the Chionodoxa you could go ahead and pot then keep someplace frost free but cold like Droopy suggested. Then do the same for the other Iris after they have dried too.

Glenda, I found a bag of Glad Bulbs I forgot to plant too. I'll plant the good ones this spring.
