My wife is a caregiver and last week she was sick all week with a bad cold that she caught from one of her patients. I felt real good all week. Today we were supposed to go to her mothers for a Christmas party. I woke up at 1:30 am feeling like crap. Took some Tylenol and cold medicene and went back to bed. Didn't feel any better at 4:30 when I got up. So I will stay home. Her mom is 89 and dosen;t need a bad cold. I was really looking forward to going as she cooks a really great ham.

awe I'm sorry that sucks, seems so many bugs going around at the moment everyone is sick, I have been ill about 6 weeks now with one thing and another, maybe if your wife goes she can bring you some of that extra yummy ham on a plate to enjoy without sharing your bugs! feel better soon.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It does suck to be sick around the holidays. Your mother-in-law must be quite spry if at 89 she still gets around and makes the ham. I'll bet your wife brings a plate full of goodies back for you.

She still lives in her own house, but has children behind her, to one side and about 1/2 block down the street. Also a granddaughter across yhe street. We are the only ones any distance from her and that'e only 30 miles. But she is slowing down a lot. She has said that this is the last year for her having it, bust she has said that for the past 8 years.

I really like the sound of your mother-in-law Capt. :D My own grandmother also kept repeating herself about being tired and worn out, but she kept at it full tilt until the day she died. She was "only" 84 then. I wish her fate will be mine.

I've had to avoid my mother-in-law too CK because of having a bad cold. :( I certainly don't want to give it to her (she's in her mid eighties) as she helps out at a lunch club for pensioners. Can you imagine all those 'old dears' having to forego Christmas because of me?!! I hope you'll soon be feeling better. Maybe your wife will bring you back a doggy bag. ;)

She brought back a big plate of ham and another of turkey and a bunch of different deserts. My MIL bakes the best ham. My wife said that it must have been a 15 lb ham. So I had a big fat ham sandwich with swiss cheese on it for supper!
