It's been neglected for four weeks, but it's still blooming. Crocosmia "Lucifer" From the rock border: Phlox: From the herbs patch: Centaurea macrocephala: Hydrangea paniculata: These roses smell heavenly, like raspberries: The redcurrants are ripe: Calendula, peas and carrots. Poor things: And our very sorry-looking plum tree with the broken branches:
Sorry for your poor plum tree, but the rest don't look too bad. You've got some nice color that you came home to. Thanks for sharing.
With four weeks of neglect here we wouldn't be able to walk into it during the rainy season (like now) or it would be fried to a crisp from the sun during the dry season. Yours is looking good. I need to go check on my tomatoes. I waiting for just the right time to pick one tomato. dooley
Serves ya right going on vacation like that,,,lol. Just kidding!! just kidding. I think it all looks great considering how you went off like that,,oops,,just kidding. My red currents are just turning now. Just a few are still pale pink. by tomorrow night i'll probably be starting some wine and making saft.
Man, if my garden would look half that good after being neglected for 4 weeks I would leave town on the next train. Mine would be more like Dooley's, fried to a crisp.
Poor garden your poor garden is looking pretty good. Let us know when it's back to your expectations. Gardengater
Thank you all, you're very kind. Please note that I've only showed the blooms and not the surrounding soil. The weeds, moss and dead and dying blooms are covering the soil so it can't be seen anyway. I'm going to need help with the plums. Even I can't manage to eat 10 kgs every day for two weeks.
What a shame about the plum trees broken branches Droopy but the rest of your garden seems to have done well in your absence. So many lovely blooms and so much colour to greet you when you returned home. :-D
Droopy, your garden still looks wonderful! That is a very nice size clump of Crocosmia you have there. I WILL get some of that for my garden next year! Great pictures
What on earth do you mean, "Oh, poor garden"? Go on... pull the other one now. You've got noffink to moan about. Not even the plum tree looks all that bad. I wish that I had half your plums. This year was a bad one here in West-Friesland for all soft fruit growers. Your flowers are looking lovely and colourful as always. My lucifers have only a couple of blooms left on them now. Never mind the weeds on the ground, you'll get to those later. Thanks for a nice colour show, Droopy.
Thank you, kind people. The garden looked a lot better than I feared, probably thanks to our neighbour. She watered a bit during the weeks with 25-30 deg C/77-86 deg F.
Droopy, I feel your pain. Mine looks like a jungle, all floppy and lush. We had wet mild weather whilst we were away so everything has gone nutty and is looking rather crammed. Just back from the allotment and that is looking even worse. Such a shame that I won't be able to do housework and will have to garden instead.
Yes, it's horrible, isn't it? I'm scolding myself for not putting the supports up for the Crocosmia and other things before we left, but they were just small then.
