It's a cold one this morning, 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 C) and the sun is shining on the last of the open water on the lake. I took a couple pictures, and thought you might enjoy, especially those from warmer zones.
Excuse me for a minute, I need to turn the heat up... Better! Lovely photos, but you're living in a cold place. We rarely get below -10 deg C - 14 deg F.
Droopy, during a normal winter we will get a couple days sometime during the winter of -35 F (-37 C) give or take a couple degrees. Thankfully, for only a couple days. The poor furnace runs most of the time during that spell. $$$$ up in smoke.
-18 C! I've never experienced temperatures like that in my life. At least you have beauty to make up for the harsh temperatures Tom. Thanks for posting your photos.
Very pretty pictures Tom. I see that the lake is already freezing there. We are lucky if our lake (Simcoe) freezes up before the middle of January. I can relate to the cold too. Just this past February we had a week in the -30's. Even the dog didn't want to go outside on those days!
Oh my That is so BEAUTIFUL, but ssssoooo cold BRRRRR. I will probably freeze there, our winter temperatures have never dropped that far down. Gosh the lowest temeprature that I can recall is 5 degrees Celsius, let alone -18. OH let me correct this - We do get colder - that colder is -5 degrees, then then it is far away from where I live. There is only one place in South Africa that goes there and that is Sutherland. No wonder there is only a observatory - no residents really.
The only good thing about snow is that it is pretty to look at. I do not like shoveling it when it is wet and heavy. Warmer climates look better to me all the time..You do have a beautiful setting...do you stock up on food in case the weather gets too bad? The 30 below stuff is too cold for me too...I just stay inside if I can. If it gets that cold I have to go pick up the dogs if their feet start freezing...and of course they start sitting down and looking at you for help...
Nice pics Tom,, i remember those days living in South Dakota,, it was so cold your,, don't know how to say this but my kids called it booger freezing weather...sorry for that, but it does explain it. the coldest i experienced in SD was -41 deg F. nothing started that day but like you said,, its just a couple days then it does ease up a bit. The coldest its ever gotten here since i moved here is -12 deg C (10 F) BUT, the wind chill is way down there -30 C (-22 F)i believe.
