A friend of mine's mom gave me this feeder around five years ago... after she's had it for several more. The elements had taken a toll and it was time to lend it a hand... and just in time too. Right after this photo was taken, I picked it up by the cable and it snapped in two. I should be ashamed for having something so ugly. feeder before ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) So after several hours of cleaning, scraping and painting.... feeder after ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) And it didn't take long for the birds to come back (this one wasn't scared of me and let me get the closest). I was hoping one would sit at the bird bath at the same time. Oh well... bird at feeder ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
Cheryl, that is lovely, just lovely! Your use of the "old" feeder with a new paint job, and the waterer in the wire chair is so innovative. Your birds must be so very happy.
Now that's what I call a face lift!! An ugly, old feeder is now something to be proud to have in your garden. What bird could resist it now especially as they have a great looking bird bath too.
Frank... my color choices came from what paint I had left over from another project (you'll see that in about a month). I didn't think the colors should be really bright like orange and red or anything. So I like how the pastels add color and the birds won't need sunglasses when they come to eat. 8) Thanks everyone. Hopefully it will last a few more years.
