I have an old wall clock, ca 1890's. Probably not a lot of value but it is a beautiful old oak case. Can I hang it on an exterior wall? I know this sounds like a dumb question but the reason I ask is because a smart old man told me one time that you are not supposed to put a piano up against an exterior wall because it will draw in moisture and ruin the instrument. Would this happen to a clock too?
To be on the safe side I would not hang it on an exterior wall because of the possible condensation of moisture problem. This can be very harmful especially to old wood which is usually very dry to begin with. The moisture could cause warping in the case. You should check on the actual value of the clock. Old wall clocks are very collectible and some are very valuable. dooley
I'd find a nice little niche for it somewhere inside. I'd hate to think it would be ruined if hung outdoors.
No, no, no don't hang it on a exterior wall, inside of the exterior wall is ok I guess. I like clocks and have a collection. I once hand carried one all the way from Germany Can you get a picture of it?
