I love hawks (and this from a chicken mama)! That is a beautiful photo. We have some Cooper's, but more Red-tailed. I've never managed to get as great a picture of any hawk at that.
Wonder why yours are so much lighter than ours ? Thats why I thought buff breasted hawk. We have all three plus our share of the smaller (we just call them chicken hawks).
I think he's got his eye on a tasty snack. If he's anything like our Sparrowhawks he will deal out death it a trice and I doubt if his prey feels anything at all.
