My husband retired about two weeks ago. I posted that his retirement day would be one happy day, but "check back with me in two weeks  ".
Well, I can report that I have retired, he has switched jobs. He now takes out the garbage; dusts on cleaning day; has made great progress remodeling our guest bathroom; cut up most of the downed mesquite tree; and has provided four lunches! I, meanwhile, am lolling in the lap of luxury and turning over more of the household chores to him.
Why, oh why, didn't I convince him to retire earlier?

Sounds good, don't forget how to do those household chores though, I give it about a month more before the balance starts shifting again. ;)

Oh no, Toni. Once I'm off duty, I am OFF DUTY! I have no intention of resuming dusting or garbage patrol. In fact, I'm thinking up other tasks I can shift off onto him. :)

You little skimmer you. Hope he doesn't wise up to your plans. If not. Wow, you have a built in house butler, and maid all rolled into one. What a blessing. ;)

Jane, I haven't done any laundry since dr retired. I was still working when he decided that would be his job. He still does it. Also, dishes and other assorted odd jobs. It seems to work for us.

Cheryl, it's already the tidiest farm in Texas. Not a weed in sight! I love it. Take a day off and go see for yourself.

Hmmm... everyone's going to RedGate. If all of the sleeping spaces in the house are taken... I get first dibs on sleeping with "the ladies" aka the hens. :setc_075:

It's tidy enough to sleep with the ladies. I don't think my chicken house ever looked so neat.

You are sneaky! I don't think there is any way I could get my DH to start indoor chores, retired or not. He is horribly spoiled, as are the children.

In case y'all haven't figured it out, Dooley is not hyper-critical! Tidy chicken coop? Not a weed in sight? That ain't my farm!
Toni, I'll put on more than coffee--I'll even put on a clean pair of jeans.
Cheryl, we live among very tidy farmers. They don't actually "tsk, tsk" when they pass our place, but some of them do avert their eyes!
Tooty, yes, and throw in "yardman" with his other attributes.
Netty, start a rigorous training program immediately and you'll have a real helpmate in no time flat.
Y'all are right, though. I am one lucky lady!
