Old push mower ( photo / image / picture from Kay's Garden )

This old push mower belonged to Bob's grandfather, who loved to garden.
I used it today just for fun (?) to mow one small area of our yard. Geesh! It is heavy and hard for little ol me to push!
It did do a fairly good job of cutting the grass. Kinda makes me glad that I own a self propelled mulching mower. I may not like to mow very much if the push mower was all I had to use!
    :)
I think Bob will sharpen the blades and oil it up sometime, and we may use it when we feel the need to work our core muscles!

Kay we had one of those mowers when we lived in our flat. A gypsy came round every six months and sharpen and oil it for us and I loved it. OK I didn't have a big lawn like I do now but it was fun to use and gave a nice, even cut. The only thing I didn't like was having to rake the lawn every time I'd used the mower.

I remember having to use one of those to mow around my grandma's yard. I've always loved to mow... I guess because it got me out of the house. I'd love to have one of those again... just for a conversation piece! :stew1:

Cherylad, my grandmother had one too. It was an easy push and she had a grass catcher that hung behind the blades. She also had a man that maintained it for her monthly. Keeping the blades sharp and all the parts well oiled was the secret, as well as mowing the lawn regularly.
