or looking at it in another way....in 14 days it will all be over with for this year. I might get a tree up this week but at least I have the Yule logs out and decorated. I still have one item to finish making and Friday is our "finish the shopping" day. Still have Nicky and Randy to buy for....and something from Mom for Austin and Nicky. We have early Christmas on Saturday with Randy's folks and I still have one gift to buy. This year his Mom asked that we do what's called Chinese gift exchange....do NOT have a clue where the name came from but it's where everyone brings one generic gift, his Mom gives everyone a number. Number 1 chooses and opens a gift, each person after that can either open a gift or take one that has already been opened. We can't get out to my Mom's until the Saturday after Christmas. But I am going to mail her gifts to her so she will have them on the day.
Oh dear only 12 days to go and so much still to do. I actually only have two little things left to buy and I'm finished. I've even got all the pressies wrapped up. I've writtten and posted all my cards and any gifts that needed sending. I only have to go out and post the neighbours cards through their doors now. Apart from putting up decorations, after my daughters birthday, and food buying nearer the day I've done everything in plenty of time - for a change.
Shopping all done. Cards all mailed, only the neighbours to do. Off to Devon at the weekend to pick up the Grandparents and deliver them to mums. Half the gifts wrapped. My main worry is the Christmas cakes aren't decorated yet and we have a brand new range cooker being delivered on Friday morning!
EJ if I know you then those cakes will all look superb by the time Christmas comes - new range cooker being delivered or not!!! You must take a piccie for us to drool over when the range is in place. I've always wanted one but this cottage simply isn't designed to take one.
Nor is our current kitchen Eileen, so Mark is going to be very busy indeed Christmas week!!!! Good job I did my own Christmas shopping this year.
Why EJ, you're my hero as of Now. I've found myself drying paint with a hairdryer on Christmas morning for gosh sakes.
The tree is up, the cards are mailed except for a couple. The gifts are bought - a couple left to wrap. Twelve people coming on Dec. 23 for dinner - no idea what we are eating. I think I will leave that up to my dear husband.
Toni, I've never heard it called a Chinese gift exchange, but that is a good name for it. We have played that at church before. It seems there is always one gift that everyone wants. It is a fun way to exchange gifts.
