This article was in today's paper (I edited out some of the non-pertinent details):

A loose bull ran through South Waco streets, yards and business properties Tuesday afternoon before two animal control cowboys wrangled it back into a trailer.
The bull belonged to Jason Stewart, 36, and Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the animal was being vaccinated at the Jager Veterinary Clinic, 2009 Circle Road, when he broke out of the corral and into the streets.
Nolan Conner, 53, chased the bull in a red pickup truck after he saw it running down La Salle Avenue near the Waco traffic circle about 1 p.m., he said.
Conner’s truck sped after the bull, with Conner wielding a whip and lasso and three or four police cars behind him, officers said.
The animal ended up in a fenced yard about 45 minutes later at a business called Central Transport at the intersection of South Third Street and Oakwood Avenue.
“This isn’t the first time something like this has happened,” Swanton said. “Animal control does this thing from time to time, but it’s normally out in the county.”
Once the animal was confined to the business property, it took about 10 minutes for animal control officers to arrive on the scene with horses and lassos.
“The good thing about living in Texas is that it’s not too long after you call a cowboy that you get one coming to you,” Swanton said.
It took only about two or three minutes for the animal control officers, Brian Leathers, 42, and Jim Bob Jaster, 29, to wrangle the animal into another trailer just before 2 p.m.
Swanton said the animal control cowboys are contracted on an as-needed basis.

Please note that the pick-up truck was red, which for some reason is a needed fact, and the names (bless 'em) of the cowboys. Also, you can call a cowboy. Only in Texas! :D

That was on the news up here, too, but not quite so many details as you gave. I am sure we were all wondering what color the truck was in our subconscious. Glad no one was hurt.

At least we have cowboys to do that. ;) I saw a video on the news one night of city cops running around trying to catch a cow that came off a hauler when the hauler flipped over in an accident....not a pretty sight.

The red pickup truck....bull fighters use a red cape.

Something about double names that quite common, don't know why cause it's irritating as the dickens when it's your name being doubled. I was always Toni Ruth, one of my aunt's was Emma Faye, I had a girl friend who was Joy Ann. Come to think of it, it's just certain special people who get the double name!! Nope, still has irritating as the dickens.

Netty, the vet comes to the cows here, too. However, when you have a breeding bull, it is often taken to the vet.
Our vet is actually two--the wife does small animals (and loves Feliz to the point I'm worried about getting my cat back when Feliz goes in for shots/exam) and the husband does large stock.
He is pretty big himself, and has been known to wrestle a steer into a squeeze stall with his bare hands.

Well we've had the odd stray cow escaping from a nearby farm but never a bull. Needless to say, here in Scotland, there isn't a cowboy to be seen.
Our large animal vets go to bulls that are put in a crush on the farms for any kind of treatment.
I wish I'd been there in Texas and been able to see the recapture of the loose bull.
