There is a lot of orange in my garden today -- a bezillion regular orange tiger lillies (but I love them just the same), and orange torch lillies (Kniphofia, or Red Hot Poker) that are new this year.

Love your orange flowers, daisybeans :stew2:
    Especially the Kniphofia. Beautiful.

Now after seeing all that orange, I am thirsty for some orange juice. :D

I like all your orange color. Those 'red hot poker' I have tried twice now, to get them going from seed and no success. Did you buy yours or start them from seed?

I bought it earlier this year. I wouldn't know how to start it from seed but I'd like to know -- do you know? It came with a bloom that is now spent and there are round bumps on the stalk -- are those the seeds? I've been wondering. I'd love to spread it around a bit in the yard, it's so pretty, and ORANGE!

I had bought those seeds at the same time I bought a handful online thru a flower company. They got up about an inch high then died out on me. couldn't keep them going-don't know why.

Oh... sad, Netty. I hope this one likes where it is even in winter.

Thanks for liking my kniphofia too CC. I think it's pretty too.

KG - talk about a field... it is a LOT of tiger lilly orange in four different places where they just drift... I know I should reduce them in size to make room for other things but I just love how they look in big masses... I guess I often like the look of mass plantings.

They scream summertime for me, Droopy, hot, sunny, orange summer!

Petunia... humm. Too bad about your seeds. If I ever figure out how to propagate, I will let you know.

Petunia -- I became curious about propagating the Kniphofia after your experience with the seeds... This site says you can propagate through division in the Spring... hummm... It also says you can plant seeds -- but :-? where on the plant are the seeds, do you know?

    http://www.harlowcarr.co.uk/whatson/gar ... m05jul.asp

PS -- Other sites I just read said to leave new plants for a couple seasons before dividing... that makes sense to me too.

    Orange! My favorite color!
Love the "Red Hot Poker". Had some when I lived in New Mexico.

Daisy Beans your flowers look great! It just dawned on me that I forgot to plant any marigolds!!!

I agree with you and love mass plantings of orange day lilies and Shasta daisies! Last summer Capt Kirk posted a picture of his. It was awesome!! It was a row, almost like a hedge that he mowed over after blooming
