I was cleaning out our pharmaceutical box and come across a few packets of expiring ORS - Oral Rehydration Salts. I was just thinking whether I can use them as plant nutrients.

The contents of ORS are Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Trsodium Citrate and Glucose anhydrous. Tried googling it by no result.

    Any idea?

We use Epsom Salts, mainly I believe for greening up palms...hope this helps KK.

I don't know if that helps.

Your ORS is for dehydration in humans, even Wikipedia does not mention plants.

    :D

KK, I would think...no not plant food. I am not sure that any of those ingredients would be suitable for gardening except for the glucose, so I would say put it in the trash.

Sodium chloride and potassium chloride are both table salts, so they would likely do more harm than good.

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, which is good for plants.

I am not sure about the trisodium citrate [sounds like vitamin C?] and glucose anhydrous is a sugar of some kind.

Chemistry class comes in handy every now and then.

glad you decided to toss them.

They may have been good weed killer?
