Ian and I went out for the day today just to have a break from working on the house and garden. Tomorrow we begin lime motaring between the stones of the cottage before the frosts arrive. Let's hope it stays put as long as the origional LM that has been between the stones since 1685!! Here are a few photographs I took while we were out and about. Beautiful wood carving of an osprey. How I wish I had a wonderful talent like this. # Another wooden sculture this time of a buck and doe roe deer. I love the way the wood has been burnished to just the right colour of the animals. The next two photographs are not the best I've ever taken but we were extremely lucky to get them at all. This bird was waaaay up high and I wasn't sure you would even see it in the photograph but you can just make it out. We followed it's flight and actually saw where it landed. We couldn't get a nearer shot but I'm still quite proud of this shot. This is only the second time that Ian and I have seen a truely wild osprey. Edited to say - The osprey is the white 'blob' in the middle of the piccie.
The 2 sculptures are indeed fantastic, they are in your village Eils? I agree the deer colours are quite an achievement.
Those are amazing sculptures Eileen! I spotted the "white blob" immediately! I love to watch the Osprey here. They are beautiful creatures.
The sculptures were at a nature reserve in Aberfoyle Frank. There was another one of an owl but I couldn't get a piccie as children were climbing on it.
The osprey is beautiful. I always wonder if a picture of a bird in the sky will turn out, too. Especially when I take a picture of the vultures because the move fast and when I see the picture I'm never sure if it will be there or now. It's getting cooler here now so the vultures won't be around much longer. How big are the osprey? I don't think I've seen one. dooley
Great pictures Eileen .I'm like you I wish had that kind of talent.I'll just have to see everyones pictures and wish.
Lovely photos Eileen. The blob was very visible. The roe deer sculpture is amazing. I'd expect them to run away at any moment.
Dooley ospreys are somewhere between the size of a common buzzard and a white tailed eagle if that's of any help to you. They are also known as fish eagles in some parts. I really do wish I had a camera with a super powerful zoom on it so that I could get decent shots of our birds of prey for you all.
