Did you ever have one of those days that knowing what was ahead, you would have stayed in bed?
I went out early to wrap our little fruit trees in bird netting. I was doing fine until I got to the tree with the yellow-jacket (wasp) nest in it. I got stung under my eye. Nipped into the house, put ice on it, and went ahead and finished the wrapping.
Decided to limb up a couple of trees in the back yard since I was tired of ducking low limbs. The gum bumelia has thorns, and one branch fell on my arm and I got some nice scratches.
Then, I went inside to get a glass of water and with my somewhat limited eyesight due to the sting swelling, I knocked over my glass and broke it. Swept up the glass and made sure I got it all, then managed to cut myself just a bit getting the glass into the trash.
It's 4:30 in the afternoon, and I'm afraid of the rest of the day!

Well they say bad luck comes in threes so let's hope that's the end of bad things for you today. Fingers crossed the swelling from the sting has gone down and that your cuts and scratches heal quickly. Maybe tomorrow will bring you better luck.

Remember what my grandma said. "It never rains, but it pours!" That can be applied to a lot of different things. I have had days where I wished I could go back and start them over. It never works that way though. I hope you are feeling better now.

Did you take care of the yellow jackets? You could have an instant replay.
You are scheduled for a good day tomorrow, enjoy it.

Oh Jane... I've had days like those... seems no matter what you do and how careful you are...something is going to get you. Here's hoping all the bad stuff is over with for quite awhile!

Gosh, if there was anything redeeming about yesterday, it was reading all your kind posts!
I'm fine--scratches are healing and the swelling under my eye is gone. There are advantages to being a tough old bird.

When I have a day like that the only I can be thankful for is that I wasn't planning on driving that day.

Glad you are better today, does sorta make one leary of going back outside though doesn't it?

Nah, what more can happen to me outside? Ohmygosh, I just thought of all that barbed wire, snakes, fully-armed vegetation, and bobcats that are lurking outside my door! Maybe I'll stay inside and make some herb butters. Hope I don't catch my fingers in the food processor.
Carolyn and Toni, thanks for your kind words. Actually, yesterday wasn't so bad, just had a few bad moments. It's hard to have a bad day here on the farm.

Yeah, barbed wire, snakes and roaming, hungry bobcats all spell fun on the farm to me too :sete_046:

Yup, I have days like that and wonder what else can possibly go wrong. Horrible sting on the face, bet that hurt like crazy. I think that alone would have kept me in for the rest of the day.
