Thought I would share the Photos of our Amaryllis that we bought at Lidl for under £2, it has grown and flowered for us and I love it, I just wish we had bought more of them.

That is beautiful and such a good price too. Hopefully you will be able to find more at that price at the next sale.

It's lovely! :D And a very good price too. I think it's similar to the one our youngest wanted to grow for Christmas.

Lovely. I didn't receive any this year...normally get at least one in my christmas stocking. I did manage to keep one going for a couple of years, but eventually it gave up the ghost. Good bargain buy!

Thank you for all your kind comments, they were all thrown in a basket in tatty boxes I guess left over from Christmas some of them had sprouted in their boxes and were curling around inside the box this one had just the start of a shoot so it came home with us, I have read that after it flowers the leaves come and they can be over a metre long! oh my where am I going to put it? I will need to feed it to give the bulb back some nutrition and I will see how it goes, its a shame to throw it out when it might survive with a bit of TLC.

That is a gorgeous thing, Playtime. I never met an Amaryllis I didn't like. Honestly. They are such luxuriously beautiful things. I especially like this one. I have had this one myself in the past and was successful in holding it over. Perhaps you can do the same. Good luck, and thanks so much for showing this beauty.

What a gorgeous flower Playtime. It is similar to the one I was given a few years ago. I was not sure how to keep it so I just left it in my greenhouse, nothing happened for a couple of years and then one day I noticed a big fat bud was developing. Bought it indoors and the flower opened, but nothing since. Just grows large leaves each year but no flowers :( I'm probably neglecting it too much.

So pretty! glad you were able to save it. I spy a little orchid behind it. Do you raise them?

I love them all. Wish I had the climate that would let me plant them outdoors.

Yes, I have about 25 orchids, a passion that has grown and grown I have 4 in flower at the moment, The yellow ones you see are cut stems off a sick Phalaenopsis I have and they have lasted in water for over 4 weeks now.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments I will see how I get on with this after it finishes flowering, I can only hope it flowers again some day.
