We tilled half of our vegetable garden this past weekend, and here it is, patiently waiting for seeds and plants: Mid-January tilled vegetable garden ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) It didn't have long to wait, because I planted onions today! The untilled corner has winter carrots in it. I like to make tilling the garden exciting for my husband, and a little "no-till" area he has to maneuver around adds interest to his task.
Yes Glendann, it is fun and my boots can attest to that fact! Toni, we will have tomatoes and squash, along with beans and some peppers in that area. The other half of the garden will be potatoes, more beans, spinach, and corn.
Looks great Jane. I too, am itching to get back out to the garden. I am glad for my greenhouses though.
Looking goooooood,MG! I had to chuckle at your thoughtfulness to your man when it comes to tilling. hee hee hee. You are a real card.
Carolyn, I'd dearly love to have a greenhouse, but I'll have to wait until we get our "live-in" house whipped into shape. A decent bedroom takes precedence over bedding plants! Sojerd, I do try to keep things interesting for him--after 40 years of marriage, I don't want him to become bored!
Netty, yes, there are actually two compost piles in the background, and I need a third bin. I haven't quite figured out yet how to break the news to my husband . Annette, having this much space to mess around in is a joy, until it come to mowing or weeding time! I really need to learn to contain myself when it comes to digging/planting. Or get a hired hand. Wonder if anyone is willing to work for vegetables?
Wow Marlingardener: that soil looks in great shape and I am jealous that you can plant even a few things in it this time of year. Right now we are having a bit of a snow storm and my ground is frozen solid. I have my seed catalogs to look threw and dream about next years garden. With our soil having so much clay in even though it been amended. We are trying the no till method of gardening. We will see what it does to the soil this next year.
