Sjoerd was asking for pictures of our vegetable garden since DH prepared it for its winter rest. He added 3 inches of mulched leaves and 3 inches of aged manure. ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden ) Sjoerd has also explained how he plants his tomato plants where the roots and part of the stem is buried sideways so more roots develop. We've done this for several years and here are the roots that developed for a indeterminate heirloom tomato this year. ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden )
Thanks so much for your pics, 2of. You have a really nice garden area there--a generous garden area with some raised beds in it as well. Very nice indeed. Thanks again for taking the trouble to post these. Also, that was a good foto demonstrating how your tom plants fared with the planting method that you employ. Having the water hose sprayer there for an idea of size was thoughtful. It looks like you are all set for the winter. Well done, you.
I have a feeling that you'll have bumper crops next year with all that lovely mulch and manure on your garden. :-D
Nice sized garden you have there. I am already excited about my garden NEXT year! I may have to try that method for my tomatoes next year!
To be honest I have to admit that DH does most of the vegetable garden. All I do is start and grow the seedlings in the house and help him plant them and the rest of the seeds in the garden. Then he takes over and does all the watering and weeding after that. Oh, I do a lot of the picking and all the canning and freezing. I do all the work in the flower gardens. He pulls up too many flowers!
