As you guys know our EJ slipped-off to lovely Devon in England for a week of comfy R&R-- I was shocked at the news here showing what is going on over in England at the moment; and even more disappointed to see that there is flooding in Devon. I don't know if it's flooding where EJ is, but it all looks too close for comfort. Take a gander at these fotos. Oh, no! I didn't see this on the news yesterday. Here I was, thinking England had had enough flooding to last for years and now this... I hope she's safe!
I have a rubber dingy so we could send out a rescue party. Seriously though I really hope that EJ, Mark and the children are well away from the affected areas. She deserves her break so much and it would be dreadful to think that she was having to cope with flooding instead of having a relaxing time with her family.
Yee-GAD, Droopy! Those are even more graphic than mine. Cor! My fingers are REALLY crossed for them now. That was a good find, if not a leedl worrysome. Ach, but I tend to be an optimistic person in general. Having said that, I shall be glad when she's back home with her lot. I don't think that the weather is quite so severe in Essex at the moment.
Wow, those are amazing pictures. I certainly hope EJ and her family are far away from all of that. Now the waiting begins...waiting on them to get back home safe and sound and let us know they are.
Netty, we were lucky enough to not notice the fires, and had a lovely holiday, but others were sent home early. How good of you to remember!
Isn't EJ due back this weekend? I'm sure she'll get on here as soon as they're settled-in. I'm really interested to hear if she experienced any dramatic water dramas.
Poor EJ & family, hope it hasn't ruined their break. The British weather seems to have gone crazy over the past few days, first the heavy snow and now it is absolutely bucketing down here!!
I do hope EJ and her family is safe and sound.Yes,Droopy I thought of your vacation as soon as I read this .I hope she and hers ends up as great as you did.
I'm back safe and sound! Ottery St Mary was about 40 minutes east from us, so fortunately we weren't affected. My family are all along the north coast, Bideford and Barnstaple. I have been to Ottery many times and it is a beautiful place, such an awful thing to happen. The weather whilst we were away was just awful, I have never known it so bad down there. We had rain, high, freezing winds, hail storms the like of which I have never seen, thick frosts and snow! Crazy crazy weather. Fortunately having family scattered around the North coast, we were in and out of the warm regularly, and we didn't let the nasty weather bother us. We got to the Eden project, which is mostly indoors so that was fine and was a lovely day. We also took the kids fishing on the only bright day and caught 6 lovely trout and we did some local attractions. A few bracing walks along the beaches and lashings of cream tea. Back to normal now with lots and lots of washing to do. It has rained all day today here in Essex and my back garden is like a swamp - goodness knows when I will be able to get out there and plant the new tulip bulbs mum has given me - 'spring green'. Anyhow, love to you all for thinking of us - I shall bore you all rigid over the next couple of days with some pictures.
