We arrived at our destination early in the afternoon. This is the place we were staying: After we unpacked and fed the dog we went into Keswick where our youngest lad had a pair of 'New Balance' training shoes waiting to be picked up. Of course Mum and Dad were paying for them and are having to ship them down to London for him!! As we were on our way to the shop we came across this standing outside on the pavement: It was freaking all the dogs out that saw it - including ours. We then went on to see William Wordsworth's garden and here are a few of the photographs I took there. Sadly most of the daffodils had already faded. These were plaques made into a pathway. All the names on them are people who contributed to the making of the garden: In the churchyard to the right of the garden was Wordsworth's grave. We left Keswick and headed back to out B&B for our evening meal. By then the weather had deteriorated and the fog had come down and the temperature had really dropped. We decided to take the dog a walk and then have an early night so that we could be up bright and early the next day. Little did we know what was in store for us!! I will continue this tale in another post as I don't want each one to be too long.
Love the daffodils and a great tribute to Wordsworth . Looking forward to your next installation of "Our trip to the Lake District." Jerry
Lovely! We know Grasmere quite well, having stayed in The Red Lion quite a few times. The path and daffodil garden recreation are new since our last visit. What a lovely thing to do. We have also stayed in Keswick, well St John's in the Vale to be more precise.
I've posted the second part and it's simply called 'Lake District part two' Netty. Hope you enjoy it.
The plaque pathway is a great idea to raise funds. Was the painted ram American football-related? Thanks for sharing with us Eils. I'm off to read Part II!
I have no idea Frank but it certainly wasn't appreciated by any of the dogs that found themselves face to face with it. Maybe it was the red eyes that had them shying away when they saw it.
This first batch are really interesting to see. I had no idea that there was a Wordsworth Daffodil Garden there. I liked seeing the grounds.
