Sorry folks, time flies when there were lots to do. Anyway it is great to get back into vacation mood just for the moment.

    March 22

We landed in Melbourne in the evening and the weather was cold but welcoming for us. Coming from a country which is always hot, cold weather is always pleasant and fun for us. Having spent many hours in this airport about two weeks ago, we were able to find our way easily. My wife’s cousin was at the airport to pick us up and we will be staying with her for the whole duration when we were in Melbourne.

    March 23

We spent a quiet day just wondering and exploring the neighbourhood. The place we were in is Bundoora and we were surprised to find lots of Asians making us feel like as though we were back home, only the weather is different.

Later in the afternoon we went galavanting in the suburb’s small town and was surprised to find there were 3 supermarkets. My wife almost went crazy with all the different kind of chocolates available.
There were a couple of universities in the area too and I guess that’s why the high density of Asians.

Our first stop was breakfast in a outlet serving Malaysian Chinese food owned by an immigrant from Malaysia. Sorry the mouth was faster than the camera so only managed to get the last dish.

We spent almost a day up in Sky High exploring almost every nook and corners. We also saw a pair of kookubrra fighting over a piece of bread left on the table by one of the guest. It was an interesting with lots of green area to wonder about.

Dinner was in a Vietnamese restaurant in the outskirt of Melbourne. The food was really good and the size of the serving is HUGE!!!

Today on our own we travelled all the way across Melbourne to visit my wife’s friend who were in school together and had not seen each other for a very long time. After about an hour and a half we arrived at our destination Brighton.

Yes all very nice and a little homesick...sort of for us.
Jewell I can tell you a bit about those little 'bathing boxes'.
We used to live not far from them , in earlier days, women were not allowed to be seen in bathing attire so they got changed into their neck to knee bathing suits inside those little sheds and when they gave the signal they were wheeled down to the water's edge where they could get into the water without being seen.Today they sell for novelty value and weekend huts but they are very expensive.
When they were used for changing sheds they were available to anyone but sometimes the queues were very long so one had to get there early!
Strange goings on! Pretty sure it was during the 1920's.

You are so right Sjoerd, I think one can get most of the ingredients from all over the world. Wish we had more time there because there are lots more to discover.

Thanks Cherylad, what did you ordered? :)

Frank the Vietnamese food is good here, much much better than those back in Malaysia because it is made by Vietnamese with real good ingredients especially the beef.

Thanks Jewell, those little house is a sight to behold!!!

Thanks Chocolate, didn't know that you stayed in that area before. It was a beautiful place. We were told the same story by our host too.

Thanks Phillip. Writing this post and posting all those photos is like going for the vacation all over again. The food is just so delicious, I think I'm getting hungry too!!! :D
