I planted 2 tomato plants this year, just as I have every year. But this year we have had plenty of rain, just at the right time. Now I have maters coming out my ears! I have 20 on the back porch ready to be eaten and there are 30 to 40 more still on the plants in various stges of ripeness. I have given so many away, none of my friends want any more! Later this week I am going to make a big pot of spaghetti sauce and will use 6 or 8 in that. And I am going to take a bunch into the Senior Center and put them on the Free Table. I guess I could start leaveing bags of tomaos in paper bags on front porches and then ring the door bell!

Now you know how the people who grow more than one zucchini plant feel when the crop comes in. ;)
Got a local food bank or homeless shelter you could take some too?
Hope you find good homes for all of them.

How about sending one special delivery for supper tonight? I had planned on BLT's and the one we have is not quite ready..How in the world did you get so many of them? What do you put on them? I have never had that many at one time...I do add the miracle grow for tomatoes but not even close to the yield you get.

I know a lot of people enjoy getting them .....I do peel and freeze them for casseroles and soup. ENJOY ! :-D

I will check my porch just in case I have a nice neighbor...

Sherry, I give them 1/2 gal of regular Miracle Grow every other week. The only other thing I do is water them when it's dry, which I haven't had to do this year. Oh and I check them for horn worms every few days too. Last week I started counting the maters on the 2 plants and I gave up at 150.

Never had a horn worm....I have a big boy and an early girl but not anywhere close to the amount you have...coming one at a time. I think your soil is better than what I have on the side of the house..I only get the afternoon sun.

:D I can visualize Capt Kirk placing a bag of tomatoes by the door, ring the bell and run into the nearest cluster of shrubs! :D I hope the seniors will enjoy their tomatoes.

I got rid of a dozen maters today. My older brother who lives in town came out and I snuck a dozen into his car before he left. Hope he finds them before they rot! Then I went out and picked 12 more and brought them in! Can't win.
