Question for you "Canna" folks. Got interested in cannas after reading big article on them in Garden Ideas magazine (spring 08). Want to use the "tropical" looking ones. Question is this: article suggests growing cannas (and other summer flowering bulbs like dahlias) in cold zones in INDIVIDUAL POTS rather than planting them in soil. Then simply place pot with bulbs left in soil in garage or protected shed for winter. Just bring pot out for warm weather. This supposedly saves this the trouble of digging up bulbs, packing them away, replanting in spring, etc. Anybody ever try this in zones 4-5.....any luck?
