    This is a western paper wasp, Mischocyttarus flavitarsis. Taken in the garden today.

    A very elegant insect. I'm amazed that they stay together, they look like they're ready to fall apart any minute.

    I'm not overly keen on wasps but must admit that your photograph shows the paper wasp up beautifully.
