Is it okay to keep a Parlor Palm small? I know they can get pretty big, but will leaving it in a small pot hurt it, or will it be okay.

Currently it is about 1 ft. tall, in a pot that is about 4 inch diameter and 4 inches tall.

    Parlor Palm Care

I have had my parlor palm for a little over 5 years. They grow slow. Mine was in a dish garden at first, and after a year, I put it in a pot that was a lot larger and deeper (about 10 inches tall, and 10 inches in diameter,) and turned it into a floor plant. I used some miracle-gro soil, and watered it about once per week. In the summer I put it outside in the shade of my front porch, and bring it inside in the fall. (You don't have to take it outside.) Every spring I put a little more new soil on top, and have given it miracle gro liquid nutrient this summer a couple of times. It now has a few new fronds. You may want to repot it if you have had it a while. The size you are describing makes me think that it could get top heavy. Hope this helps. ;)
