Parsley flowering

    Just a short question.
    And that is what does it mean when your parsley plant starts to flower,I've never seen it before.

    when parsley starts to flower, the leaves become bitter. the plant is readying to make seed. the parsley flowers are edible, but i've never tried them.

    Hi ed, Parsley is a biennial plant. the first year you can harvest the leaves, the second year it produces the seed for the next season. So you really want to plant new plants every year. You can leave the old ones to grow and they sometimes attract swallowtail butterflys. The butterflys lay their eggs on them and thats when you see parsley worms. Which are the catterpillar for the swallowtails.
