First bloom of the year for the Passion flower. These flowers never cease to amaze me!

And the orange Cosmos are trying to catch up to the pink ones. I planted them a few weeks apart and didn't do a very good job of spreading them around... so they are pretty much hidden behind the others. Next year... I'll do better. But in the meantime... at least I know they're back there.

I had the same thought Eileen.... I want a passion flower too. That's just amazing. Where to put it, that's the question...

That particular sort of Passion Flower really is attractive. You have donme well.
I keep planting them and they keep dying after one year...it's just too cold here for them, but I keep hoping that I will find one with the genes to withstand a bit of frost.

Cheryl, you are going to have loads of Gulf Frittilary butterflies. Passionflower is the host plant, so you'll see little orange caterpillars that will become GFs. They will certainly have enough to nectar on in your yard!
I love cosmos, too, and have some in the front bed. There is something touchingly old-fashioned about cosmos.

Oh, that is beautiful, I started a couple this winter. I can't wait to see one in person. I know it's not hardy here, but I'm hoping to move it into a hoophouse for the winter. Thanks for sharing. :stew2:

I've had that one in a container for a couple of years and have overwintered inside. Now that it's in the ground I'm hoping it will handle the cold. And I don't see why not, the plant I got the cutting from has been growing for years and years. What I can't figure out is... if Mother Nature goes through all the trouble of creating such a spectacular flower... why does it only last ONE day??? :headscratch:

    That's a really lovely bloom. I'm envious. :D

Passion flower is a house plant here. I've tried to grow them but I usually kill house plants so I think I'll just enjoy yours. :D
