I have been very poorly for the last couple of days, a horribly sickness bug that has knocked me off my feet. So, my darling has been in charge of the house and children. The story goes like this.... Last night I was dozing in bed when I made a mad dash to the bathroom in a daze to be confronted with number one son having his hair washed. This was about 9.30pm, and he is normally asleep by 8.30pm! I was in no fit state to find out what was going on so I asked them about it this morning. Turns out number one daughter had been chewing gum that she had in the bottom of her icelolly. She had been stringing it from finger to finger, and number one son having ants in his pants, danced through the gummy strands and ended up with it in his hair. Not wanting to bother me, husband tried to decide how to remove it. A bag of frozen peas was placed on his head in an attempt to freeze the gum, but this didn't work, so out came the clippers and a possible number one haircut looked likly, but before taking the plunge, hubby googled 'gum in hair' and time and time again came up with massaging peanut butter into the offending gum! Turns out the natural oils in the peanuts lifts the gum cleanly...and it did! Glad to say I am feeling a lot better now, so hopefully peanut butter won't become a usual shampoo in our house. :-D
Glad you are feeling a lot better. Yep peanut butter does wonders on gum in hair and also for removing the sticky stuff left on glass or plastic items when you take off the price sticker but it doesn't peel off completely. When I first read the topic title Peanut Butter, then your first comment was about how sick you have been, I was afraid you had eaten some of the Peter Pan peanut butter that was recalled because of salmonella contamination recently. Glad there was no connection there.
Well I naturally thought that you had made your own peanut butter, you are so handy at doing things like that. Glad the gum came out with no problem. Why is it those things always happen when we are sick?
I'm pleased to hear your beginning to feel better EJ. Now take things easy for another couple of days until you get your strength back properly won't you? It sounds as though Mark is coping well with the kids and certainly used a lot of initiative in looking up how to get rid of the chewing gum BEFORE cutting your sons hair. Who'd have though that peanut butter could be so useful!!! :-D
I'm glad you are feeling better today. Yes,I've used peanut butter a few times on some gum in really long strawberry blonde hair.It works miracles.
That's a great tip. Bet the kids think your hubby is pretty smart especially as the horrible haircut was avoided.
Hope you are feeling better EJ. My hubby would never think of doing that! He probably would have just cut it...or else sent the kids to me! Sure sounds like he's a keeper EJ! LOL
I bet your son is happy to not have a haircut. I've cut gum out of hair. My sister's girls gave each other haircuts when they were 3 and 5 yrs. Not much could be done with it but let it grow. Peanut butter does amazing things. So, does toothpaste. Dooley
