So my garden soil is a bit tight and I was thought that it needs to be lose. Witch would be better to mix in with it to fluff it up before I start planting my plants in there. Peat moss or potting mix? or something else I am trying to keep cheap as possible.Oh and over night something came up and broke my broccoli leafs off just a stem is sticking up and they didn't even eat it just left them on the ground. Do you think they will come back? The broccoli I mean.

I use peat moss, then add some compost and some organic fertilizer. Til it or mix up well. Makes a good start.

I would recommend you use an organic peat moss substitute as the peat bogs are being reduced to almost nil because of over production. However, if you go to a local garden centre with a sample of your soil they should be able to advise you on the best additive to loosen it up and to benefit your plants.
